Legal Question in Business Law in Alabama
Vendor Contracts
I purchased a business location.
Location had previous vendors doing business with the former company.
We are not affiliated in any way to the previous company.
I have a vendor demanding that I honor the 5-year contract they had with the former company.
We did not sign any contract with that vendor as our company, and I do not need this service vendor in any way.
Am I obligated to honor this service contract if my business did not sign for it? Wouldn't the previous company be required to handle that contract themselves between them and the vendor?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Vendor Contracts
Based on the facts you describe, I cannot see how you would be liable for the contract. However, without seeing the paperwork involved (your lease, any contracts, etc.), it would be difficult to say for sure. If they continue to demand that you honor the contract, you should speak to an attorney.
