Legal Question in Business Law in Alabama
Wage Garnishment
I work for a company that is a chain and has many stores around the United States. The home office is based in Pennsylvania and payroll is issued from Pennsylvania. I work in one of the chain stores in Alabama. Five months ago I was served with a wage garnishment order at the store where I work. The garnishment is for the remainder owed for a repo car. The garnishment order came from a court in Alabama in the county in which I work. To this day no money has been taken out of my biweekly paycheck for the garnishment. Why? Would it be subject to Pennsylvania law or Alabama law?

You can't garnish someone across state lines.
