employment conflict of interests
If a am employed at a retail business and my son is hired at a competitors business, can I be fired? I was told I would be because of a conflict of interets.

Of course you can be fired. If you owned one of the stores, how would you like it if the son of one of your employees worked for your competition? So long as you're not being discriminated against for your race, gender, religion, or national origin, you can be fired for just about anything.
