statue of limitations expire 7-24-2006

My incident happened on 7-24-2004. I was arrested for shoplifitng falsely accused from a major retail store that I had been employed with 13 yrs. The 1st court date March 2005 and cont. I had to push for another date. May 31 found not guilty.If this is filed by 7_24-2006 will My suit be okay. I having dificult time finding a laywer because of the date.
