Terminated/Resigned Employee Emails

Can a former employer take legal action against former employees if (3) former employees (2) resigned and (1) terminated were using company provided email to communicate exclusively to on another about their disatisfaction with the company and it's specific Managers and Executives. All 3 were venting to eachother to blow off steam. At no time were any of these emails shared or discussed with the general public?
