Legal Question in Consumer Law in Alabama

I bought a used car two years ago with cash from an individual. I made the mistake of taking the car and giving the money without having him give me the title. The car is registered in my state but the state claims to not have a title either. The seller had been working with me going back to the state he bought the car in to try and locate the title. He was told that he could get a "bonded" title from that state and he in fact went through all the steps up to buying the bond. Now he has dissappeared from the face of the earth. I have a car with no title that was last registered in the sellers name. What can I do to get the car in my name so I can sell it?

Sue him for conversion. He promised to deliver title and has not. Sue him for your money.
