i bought furniture in georgia but live in alabama, the account has been sold to a collection agency. Which state consumer laws apply to me?

You will need to refer to your financing contract to see if there is a choice of law provision, which states which law governs.

It will likely depend on the language in the contract you signed when you purchased the furniture.
Regardless of the language in the original contract, the company that purchased the debt from the original creditor will likely sue you in Alabama.
When they do, I would be happy to help you defend the collection lawsuit.
