Credit application
Is it legal for a merchant to release a copy of your application for credit to a third party (no relation to deal or myself) without you consent?

I need to know more details but this is troubling. How much detail was in the application? Who was the merchant and the "third party"?
Sometimes the application gives the merchant the right to send your information on to third parties.
