loss of $500 dollars , per e-bay purchase

our grandson sent a mail order to a young man in birmingham,ala, for a engine and some hard to find parts. after 60 days of e-mails and phone calls and giving false info from the ala man, he still has no motor or parts. the ala man gave him a false shippin number and has also been banned from e-bay. his mothe rlies for him. how do we set a legal action in place to make this person return the money or have arrested for fraud? or what can we do? e-bay says they can do nothing. thank you

If you are the victim of a fraud you can sue in your local small claims/municipal court for a relatively small filing fee. Once you win a final, non-appealable judgment you can have the judgment transferred to and filed in Alabama. The perpetrator may eventually need to settle with you to clear this up on his record.
