Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

Acct. on Credit Report

I have an Credit Card acct. listed on my credit report as charged off/sold. I have no knowlege of such acct. The JDB who purchased this acct. filed a lawsuit against me and the final judgement was for the Defendant. The JDB did not at any point post on my credit report. Just an inquiry. Since the lawsuit went in my favor, do the credit reporting agencies have to remove the original Credit Card acct.?

Re: Acct. on Credit Report

This is a common problem we see often. The original credit card company reporting will often, as in your case, continue to falsely report that you still owe them. However, since you won your lawsuit, the court has found that you do not now nor ever have owed them this money. Thus, they must remove the balance after a proper dispute with the credit bureaus.
