Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama
Bill Collections
A collection agency is sending me threatening letters & calling my house at all hours of the day & night. I acknowledged the debt & have been making payments, but they want the amount in full. Due to a family member's illness, I am unemployed but am still trying very hard to make payments. I have asked about a payment plan, but they are ignoring my requests. What do I need to do? I have made (and kept) arrangements with other debt collectors, so why won't this one work with me? They're threatening to take me to court, & I can't afford that to happen either.

Re: Bill Collections
What type of threatening letters and how many times a day are the calling? This makes a difference on whether the collection agency has violated the fair debt collection practices act.
