Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama
collecting a judgement
I won a claim in small claims court against an individual, it was appealed and I won there also. Now I am trying to collect. I filed wage garnishment against him and this is dragging on. He is in the air force now and they are requesting SSN which I don't know. It has been over a year and the amount is only $800.00 but it is now a matter of principle to me. Should I hire someone to collect for me? So far I have been doing this myself. What percentage is usually charged to collect? Thanks for any help.

Re: collecting a judgement
Garnishing throught the military can be very difficult, and I would employ an attorney. Usually, the fee is 1/3 of whatever is collected.
