Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

credit card debt

If my ex husband gave me a credit card to use with my name on it after our divorce and then removed me from being able to make purchases by removing my name as an authorized user, am I liable for any of the debt?

Re: credit card debt

Generally authorized users are not liable for the debt although there are exceptions. One problem we see often is that authorized users will have the credit card account on their credit reports and this can seriously damage your credit scores. You may want to see if your credit reports show this account and if so you should go through the dispute process with the credit reporting agencies.

Let me know if you have any other questions or need some direction on checking credit reports, etc.
