Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

Credit Card Fraud

I recently recieved a bill for an Annual fee for a credit card i did not apply for. No card was ever sent to my house and no other charges are on the card. I called the company, told them i didn't apply for it, closed the account. Now i'm getting a bill with late charges added on. I called again and stated my case with someone in the fraud dept. but he seamed as if he could care less about my situation. Is there anything i can do to light a fire under their butts.

Re: Credit Card Fraud

You need to check your credit reports to see if this is on there. Also, I would suggest sending a dispute to the credit reporting agencies with a identity theft fraud affidavit. Contact me if you need any other information or websites, id theft affidavit form, etc.

It sounds like you have done all you can do with the creditor directly - I would look at the credit reporting angle.

Best of luck.
