Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama
What is the garnishment law in ALabama?
Can you please tell me what the garnishment law is in Alabama? Can a creditor file it against your wages? What is the timeline this can happen? Can your employment be lost due to garnishmnet in Alabama?

If a judgment is obtained against you, the judgment creditor may garnish 25% of your wages. There is no specific timeline; however, they need to have a final judgment. You can be terminated for any reason whatsoever in Alabama (employee at will) unless you have an employment contract or the termination is for race, religion, national origin, sex, disability, age, or retaliatory discharge (workers comp).
