Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama
My husband was admitted to a treatment facility and was only there for 5 days. He was on my insurance at the time and the faility tried to run it n my insurance. The insurance denied the claim because of a lasp in coverage. At discharge he sigen a agreement that he would be obligated to pay $1200 at $50 a month. Now the facility is sending me statement in my name saying that I owe then $3,679.25. I was never at teh facility, I never signed any contract. I have made several atttempts to get the statement out of my name and was told that they would, but I am still getting letters from them saying that I owe them. The attorney I work for is sending a letter to try to settle this matter with them. The questions I have for you is if the balance is reported to my credit report and we sue them for fair debt collection and slander of credit, what amount can be sued for?

doesn't sound like you have much faith in your employer (the attorney). Discuss your concerns with your employer/attorney (who is ALREADY working on your case) and if he/she cannot help you perhaps you can be referred to another lawyer by your current one.
It is ethically inappropriate for an attorney to discuss your situation while you are represented by another attorney.
