Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama
medical collection agency fees
I received a statement from a medical debt collector stating that I owed $20 more than the statement from the doctor showed. I was informed it was a ''collection fee.'' Is that legal in the state of Alabama? If not, how do I fight it?

Re: medical collection agency fees
Most documents you sign when you initially consent to treatment contain a clause that permits the addition of collections fees, attorney fees, costs and interests in the event you fail to pay for the services. If your contact provided for a collection fee, then it is enforceable.
