Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

stipulation for entry of consent judgement

I have been asked to sign a letter of stipulation for entry of consent judgement. My questions are these:1) As long as I abide by the terms of the agreement(making payments and on time, can they still sue me? 2)Is this the same as having a judgement against me? 3) What exactly is this consent of judgement thing?

Re: stipulation for entry of consent judgement

A consent judgment normally means that there is a judgment entered against you and if you don't pay the plaintiff can go ahead and garnish. Sometimes collection lawyers mean its just an agreement that IF you don't pay then you agree ("consent") to a judgment against you.

Who sued you - a debt buyer (Asset Acceptance, Palisades, Midland Funding, etc) or the original creditor (Citibank, Capital One, etc)?
