Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

thinking of paying off my mothers home however hear if she sells it to me and something should happen to her withen 5 years the house could be taken even though i paid for it for nursing home debt etc. is this correct?

Yes, there is some law out there that allows medicare/medicaid (whoever is paying for your mothers care) to take any property for that has been transferred or sold within a certain amount of time after the transaction to act as reimbursement of the care they have provided. You need to contact a local attorney in your area that handles wills/trusts/estates law as they will have more knowledge of this area.
