Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama
Arson
We rented out a mobile home. The person we rented to sat it on fire. We are not getting any results from the police dept. They keep telling us it not against the law to set your one house on fire.It was not his,but is this true? Even when you burn everything that belongs to your kids & family.

Re: Arson
Well, I don't know what the circumstances are, but if that fire was intentionally set, it certainly would constitute arson. Maybe the police think it was accidental?
Regardless, if you or your tenants did not have insurance on the property-and even if it was an accident-you could still pursue the person responsible for the fire in civil court. Depending on the value of the mobile home and some other factors, you could bring the case yourself in small claims court or hire an attorney to bring suit for you. Good luck
