cop searches
can a cop search a car just for stopping for an expired tag? is it legal and if he finds something is that admissible in court?

No, a cop cannot search a car under the circumstances you described unless you give him permission to search the vehicle. If you refused to give him permission and he searched the car anyway, then the evidence should not be admissible in court.
Please note that the cops often remember a different version of the facts than the version remembered by the person charged with a crime. Thus, do not be surprised if the cop says in court that you gave him permission to search your car.

if he asks permission and it is given, yes he can search and it is admissible. If he claims suspicious activity, he may be able to search
