Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama
Jail sentence
I have recently been charged for manslaughter in the state of Alabama. My lawyers have offered a plea for a ten year sentence in which I will serve my time out in 4 1/2 years and maybe get paroled out in 3 years with good behavior. The lawyers are trying to get the judge to split the sentence so that I can do 3 years with 5 years probation but good behavior doesn't count if the sentence is split. Will you please let me know what you think I should do? It sounds to me like there isn't much difference because they want me to do 3 years either way but if you can let me know a little more about this I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: Jail sentence
on the ten split 3 years to serve with 5 years probation you are guaranteed that you get out in 3 years. The other method there is no guarantee that you will get paroled. You decide. You do the time.
