Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama
Life Sentence
My cousin was murdered in December 2001. His murderer was given a 20-99 year sentence, apparentely supposed to be a ''life'' sentence. After 15 years, the man who stabbed a member of my family to death will be eligible for parole. We (the family) is bringing a wrongful death suit against the killer, and are seeking appeal. What is the likely outcome in this case? Is it defeatist to presume that the murdere will walk free after serving 15 years?

There are too many factors to consider to give you a definite answer. Have you already filed the wrongful death case?
