Typically it's 12 months with a few exceptions. Check with an attorney personally, however, because no case is identical to another.

generally, if the offense is a misdemeanor, the prosecuting authority, or victim, has 12 months to initiate prosecution. There may be some exceptions so you should consult an attorney and give him/her more facts to obtain a more precise answer.
