Re: Probation violation

It depends on the terms of your probation and on what the new ticket is for. If you are on probation for most crimes and you merely picked up a speeding ticket, then the probation officer probably will not do anything. However, if you are on probation for a DUI or other driving offense and get a charge such as driving on a suspended license, then the probation officer will usually report the probation violation to the court.

If your probation violation is serious enough or if the terms of your probation prohibit the type of ticket you received, then you would be arrested for the probation violation and would have to make bond to get out of jail. You will be scheduled for a probation hearing in around 30 to 60 days, where the judge would decide whether or not to incarcerate you.

If you are scheduled for a probation revocation hearing, it is essential that you hire an attorney to represent you. Our office handles probation violation cases, and we will be glad to discuss the situation with you. You can call our office directly, or use this website to send me an email.
