Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama
Recovering lost Property
I purchased a motorcycle in California in 1999, I then took it to Arizona in 2001. A friend said he wanted to buy it and said he would pay me. He then took the bike to Alabama under the agreement to buy it. It is now 2004 and I have not recieved any money or the bike and I cannot contact this person to get the bike back. Can I report it stolen and if so what state do I report it in? How do I get the bike back. I still have the title in my name.

Re: Recovering lost Property
I'd try contacting law enforcement in Alabama or Arizona and explain the situation. They will be a bit curious as to why you waied this long to report it. If you live in Arizona, I'd report it there and have the police there contact law enforcement in Alabama. If you live in Alabama, I'd report it there. I wouldn't just tell the police it was "stolen." I would explain the situation and then if they ask you if you counsider it stolen, you can tell them you do.
Hope that helps. If not, feel free to call me at 646-209-8213,
