Re: sex offence
It depends on the specific charge. There are several different charges which could be considered child molestation. Some carry a range of punishment of 1 to 10 years, some carry a range of 2 to 20 years, and some carry a range of 10 years to 99 years or life. Most cases involving child molestation are Class B felonies, which call in the 2 to 20 year range.
Additionally, anyone convicted of child molestation must register as a sex offender and will be subject to community notification for the rest of his or her life.
If you have been charged with a sex offense involving a child, it is important that you contact an experienced criminal defense attorney immediately. If our firm can be of assistance, please feel free to give us a call.
