Legal Question in Education Law in Alabama
Tenure Law
I am a teacher who is approximately 2 months short of being tenured in an Alabama school system. I am in good standing and a member of the NEA (National Education Association) and the AEA( Alabama Educ Assoc) unions. I have been a member for almost 4 years. Recently, the system has had financial problems because of upper level mismanagement. Today, 110 nontenured teachers were given pink slips( termination notification). Do I have any rights as a nontenured teacher? Is there varying levels of seniority among the nontenured ranks?

Re: Tenure Law
I suggest you contact your union representative regarding
this matter. I am unfamiliar with the specifics
for Alabama, as I am in California.
