My Grandfather had appointed myself and an uncle as durable power of attorney. He recently went to stay with another uncle for a little while. A few weeks after being there we receive a letter removing the POA, amongst other things that were not normal for my grandfather to do. After speaking with my grandfather he does not remember signing anything or opening the bank account he now has. We have a letter from his long term doctor stating that he has Alzheimer's dimentia and has had it for a couple years. Is there anyway to get the POA reinforced? That is my Grandfather's wishes. But with me in Alabama and him in Florida, I'm at a loss on where to even begin. His attorney that he has used for years is conveniently never around. never calls back. What can I do and where can I get help? I feel it is very important I get this done asap before everything he owns is gone, and he and my grandmother have nothing to live out their lives with. Greedy people are in the midst.

As I understand it, your grandfather is now in Florida and you are in Alabama. His original POA is from an Alabama attorney and your Florida uncle has somehow convinced your grandfather to change his POA to drop you and add him as Agent. Is that correct? If so, you will need to enlist the help of a Florida attorney near where your grandfather is now living in order to challenge the capacity issue of your grandfather. Please reply with a city and zip and we can find you a local attorney who can help.
