Look at the POA and make sure it allows it in some context or at least does not disallow it. There is a personal services contract that can be used for such. The answer is yes. There are of course tax consequences to you as income and if Medicaid for nursing home care is in the future this may cause problems. It is legal, but proceed with caution.It will be best if you will locate an elder law attorney locally to assist you. The AL State Bar lawyer referral service can be used if you do not know of an attorney.
