Property Seizure
I have one grandparent in a nursing home and the other is incapacitated at home of residence. The home currently has a lien on it; and the state wants to take their property upon their death. What alternatives do we have to prevent this from happening.

Asset protection strategies with regard to Medicaid liens are what many Elder law attorneys specialize in. I suggest you first meet with a Md. attorney and buy an hour of time with him/her to discuss your situation. Md law will probably differ from AL law, but the concepts will be similar. Then find an AL elder law atty by Googling NAELA.com and make an appt either for a phone conference or otherwise. You have options but they are dwindling.
