Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

being allowed to live out of state

My husband and I were divorced in 1998. I was ordered to live in the same county as my ex. I am not from Alabama. My children are now 14. One of my daughters is very goal and career oriented. She wants to go to a college in Kentucky in four years. She wants to take college courses when she turns 16, and has asked me about being allowed to move to Kentucky so she can take the classes there and attend a high school in that area. I would love to go home after ten years but have not considered it due to my ex forbidding us to leave. What would the chances be of me taking this back to court to have the order re-evaluated and possibly changed. I am remarried and have three other children. Work here has been very difficult for my husband to find. At the present time he is working out of state due to finding better work and wages. Thank you.

Re: being allowed to live out of state

Get a lawyer and file a motion to modify. You may also talk with the father before doing this and try to get him to agree
