Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
annulment of marriage
I got married to my husband the day before he left for Iran to go to war. He is in the Navy and we had only been dating for one month and engaged for one week. We have never lived together because he left the day after we got married. We have not even been married for one month, and I want an annulment. I think we got caught up in the emotions of him leaving for war, and we just made a quick decision that should have been much more thought through. Could you tell me how much an annulment costs and if there is any chance of this in my situation. I had also just ended a relationship of 5 years only a few weeks before I started dating my husband. My ex and I had bought a house and already lived together when I made him move out. I was very emotional over this and the war situation with my new boyfriend. When my boyfriend at the time (husband now) was leaving for war and asked me to marry him, I said I would. I was too emotional and so was he to make this big of a decision. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Re: annulment of marriage
This will be the same as divorcing, but it will probably take more because he will have to agree and you have to have papers signed by him because he is overseas. An annulment and a divorce take the same work, so the cost would be the same in this situation with a spouse in the military in Iraq. You are welcome to email me.
