Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Do i have to answer questions when subpoenad.

Lawguru.Com

my brother in law subpoenad me for his divorce. If i say anything bad about my wifes sister, i will never hear the end of it. My wife would probably go crazy. I also don't want to hurt my brother in law which i work with. Is there any way i can plead the fifth. Or another way which i would not have to talk in the courtroom. In my belief if i talk i could hurt my marraige or my job. Depending which side i favored. Hopefully this is enough info. Appeciate the legal advice.

The short answer is yes, you have to answer the questions put to you by the attorneys and/or the judge. The 5th amendment only applies to criminal matters. There is no reason to "favor" anyone. Just tell the truth.
