Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Child Custody Issue

What do I need to do when it comes to seeing my son? When I divorced there was a signed agreement that my child was to stay with me one week and his father one week, joint custody. We held to the agreement for four years. For the past two years I have had set backs that preveneted me from keeping my son a week at a time. Then, there was an issue as to whether or not I was doing drugs. Instead of telling me that I could not get him, his father has simply made it impossible for me to get him on a regular basis. I gave up for a while and now I want to see him on a regular basis. I'm clean and rebuilding my life. What should I do if they will not even answer the telephone? Is the legal? Even if I went down the wrong path, I'm straight now and want to see my son!

Re: Child Custody Issue

You go back to the court where your divorce and custody was decided and file a contempt petition and motion to enforce visitation. But you better be clean, and have paid child support if ordered, if not, provided for the care of the child when you had him and have a safe home.
