Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
Is child becoming obese considered abuse?
My ex-wife was given custody of our daughter. I have visitation. Over the past 2 years, my daughter has gained over 20 pounds while in the care of her mother. She is 6 years old, 48 inches tall, and weighs 78 pounds. She should weigh 58. My daughter also has high cholesterol. I have spoken with my ex wife, and she is not overly concerned with the health of our daughter. Is there anything I can do legally speaking?

It sounds to me like your ex-wife is neglecting your daughter's medical needs. It could be grounds to go to court for a modification of custody. You will probably need to get some medical evidence from a doctor of nutritionist to back this up.
