Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Child support for college student

My daughter is now 21 and a senior in college. I was served with papers by her father to terminate child support, which was paid through a court ordered wage withholding order. Her checks have stopped until we go to court. I have been told by many people child support was to be paid until age 23 if a child was a full-time student in school. Is she still entitled to child support, and if not, do I have to back pay any child support recieved on her behalf since she became age 19?

If there was no previous order for him to pay for college expenses, then you might have a problem. You need to consult with an attorney as soon as possible. If you are in Mobile, you can call me at 450-0111 and I will try to answer your questions.
