Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

In a child support settlement my former husband was ordered by the court to secure a $25,000 life insurance policy with my daughter as the beneficiary. He died 2 years ago and she is not aware whether the policy was even taken out or not...how can we proceed to find out and to file a legal claim?

You need to talk to a lawyer. This will get complicated. Generally, an estate for him would have to be opened. If there never was an insurance policy purchased, you are probably out of luck. However, get an attorney and get all the facts before him or her -- and do it NOW.
