Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

child support

my son thinks I am obligated by law to pay HIM child support at 19 years of age after he now lives with me. I have modified my divorce decree to not pay my ex-wife because he failed out of school and he now resides with me. I need this question answered for him. Do I have to pay him child support now that he lives with me, has no job and I fully support him anyway?

Re: child support

No. You do not have to pay child support to your 19-year-old son who is living with you. At 19, he is legally an adult and is responsible for taking care of himself. He should thank you for giving him a place to live when you have no legal obligation to do so, and then go find a job before you get tired of supporting him. Good luck.
