The probate court would appoint a guardian for the children, after the death of the parents. THe court would decide who would best be able to take care of the children. Usually, family members are favored to act as guardians. THe court can also appoint a conservator to manage the money left behind. Sometimes this will be a seperate person. The guardian takes care of the child, the conservator takes care of the money..
