Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
My daughter turns 19 in December of this year. My question is can I pay the remaining child support for the next 5 months in one lump sum? If I can do I need something in writing? Could it create a problem? Concerning the minor child of marriage, the parties stipilate and agree as follows?
(a) The parties shall confer with each other on all important matters pertaining to the health, education and welfare of said child.
(b) The Plaintiff (me) agrees to pay the defendant for the support of the minor child, the sum of $XXX.XX per week, until the minor child becomes emancipated, to-wit: married, deceased, enters Armed Services, is adopted, or reached the age 19 (unless mentally or physically handicapped), whichever occurs first.
(c) The parties agree to divide all cost of extracurricular activities equally.
(d) The parties agree to divide any and all college expenses equally, if minor child choose to continue her education.
I understand I still have to pay 50% of any medical and college expenses that come up, but my child support will end at the age of 19.

You just need your cancelled check or receipt showing what you paid and what the payment was for.
