Before the first decree

Once a custody and/or divorce decree have been signed, can the other party come back 4-5 years later and try to regain custody of a child with things that happened before the first decree is signed?

Generally no. Usually the old decree is a wall that is not crossed. However, if there are new issues they have to present, the court may listen to old material since it involves the best interest of minor children. I would contact an experienced domestic atty in your area and see what the local procedure is and what your otions are. Good Luck.
