divorce/custody/terminate fathers rights

me and my husband separated last february and we lived in alabama.i moved to tennessee and now have moved back to alabama in december.i am trying to find out where i should try to apply for divorce/custody of my children.also,he is in jail for burglary in tennessee and he is way behind on his child support,he has abandonedthem numerous times and i would like to know if it is possible to terminate his rights.i cant afford to go to an attorney right now and this is really stressful

You need to see a lawyer; maybe Legal Services Corp. can help you. After you have lived in Alabama for 6 months you can file here. Otherwise, it will have to be in Tennessee. You might be able to terminate his rights, but it depends on all the facts concerning the abandonment.
