Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

I"m divorced, I have custody of my 2 daughters, and he pays me X amount child support for both of them. Now I have one daughter who wants to live with her dad. So then I would only have legal custody of one of the children. We both make about the same amount of money. How is the child support calculated?

First, remember that you must go back to court to do this. Second, you can Google Alabama Child Support Calculator. There you will find a few programs which will calculate Alabama Rule 32 child support. You will need to supply both mom and dad's income, expenses for child care to allow either of you to work, child support paid to other children. etc. The program will then calculate the child support.

This is not going to be your big problem. You must convince the judge that a change in custody is appropriate and warranted. The child does not get to choose. The child can express a preference if he/she is 14 years old or older, but only the court can order a change. Good luck
