Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama
When all else fails
We have custody of my stepkids (17 &18). Effective September 1, their mother was ordered to pay support for one & $136 for college expenses on the other. Payroll deduction started Novemeber 15. We received our first payment yesterday (Dec 9); we have received nothing as far as college expenses go. She refuses to talk to us about the arrearages. What would be the most effective next move? We have considered having her new motorcycle seized for nonpayment, but aren't sure whether that's the best alternative or not. We know money is not an object - she goes out of town pretty much every weekend following some country musician's tour, then brags to the kids about it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: When all else fails
You could file a motion to hold her in contempt of court for failing to obey the court order. You should speak with a local attorney to find out the most efficient method in your situation. Different judges have different ways that they prefer to handle things. good luck. If you need to speak with an attorney in Mobile, you can call me at 450-0111.
