Re: Good Father bad situation
You have the power to change this situation. In order to do that, you have to be proactive. You need an attorney to file for divorce, and get some court orders in place. Those orders will include an instruction against her 'bad-mouthing' you. She may not want court-ordered child support, as she may be receiving state assistance, and documentation of your support in any amount might jeopardize that.
In the interim, pay child support $ to her by money order so that you have a paper trail of what is being paid. She can ask for some arrearage support, but that is based upon your income at the time, and can be set up in payment arrangements with your current payments.
