My husband and I want to move out of state. I have a 4yr old son from a previous relationship and I want to know what the proper channels are so that I can move?

If you were married when the child was born, then there is a process which you have to go through of notification to the father. If you were not married, and the biological father has never taken steps to become the legal father, you have no problems of moving. But if you are wanting to adopt, there is a complicated process which you must go through for the adoption and I would suggest you do it before you move.
