Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

my kids

my ex-wife caused me to lose my kids 5 years ago when i left her and told her i was going for custody she had me thrown in jail for a terroristic threat that was reduced to disordley conduct which i was not guilty of,but i have had trouble finding a good job because of the charge anyway im remarried and happy and i just found out that my kids where taken from their mother and put in a foster home she was getting help from the state cause i wasnt paying child support the last 3 years nor would she ever let me see my kids every lawyer i talked to wanted 3000 dollars to take my case but that is hard to come by my question is with all this can i still get custody of my kidsmy ex only kept the kids because she knew it would get to me because i did everything for my kids when they where with me please help me i want my kids with me so i can give them the love and attention they need also a better life

You need to contact DHR and advise them you are a relative resource. If this fails then you would need to go to the family court in the county where they are held and file for custody. Child support would remain an issue which would have to be worked out and paid in increments to the State because they do want their money but they would work with you on a payment plan. At this time it is costing DHR more to have the children and if a relative resource is available that can meet requirements, they should place the children in the relative's custody. This could also be members of your family if not you.
