Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Is a lawyer legally required to tell me when the opposing party offered a sum money to settle before it went to court? My lawyer was offered a sum of money to settle and told the opposing lawyer that we were not interested. The only problem was that he did not tell me about the offer because I was interested and would have taken the offer. Was this legal and what could or should I do? I am so upset about this.
