Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

I married a guy from Mexico, when we got married I thought he was legal, but he was not, he has abandoned me and my daughter and I want to file for a divorce, we have been separated for 6 yrs. now and he is in Mexico. Are we legally married or not.

Where did you marry him? If your marriage was valid where contracted it is valid here. The fact that he was in illegal alien does not make your marriage invalid.
